THE B’TSELEM FALSE NARRATIVE:
(taken from the B’Tselem webpage)
Taysir Yusef Muslem a-Sameiri
34 years old, resident of al-Qararah, Khan Yunis District, killed on 24 Dec 2014 in al-Qararah, Khan Yunis District, by a missile fired from an aircraft. Participated in hostilities member of the military wing of Hamas. Additional information: Killed outside his home, located approximately 500 meters away from the Gaza perimeter fence. Approximately an hour before he was killed, a soldier was wounded by shots fired by armed militants who were near the town of Khuza’a, located more than 7 kilometers away from al-Qarara. After the soldier was wounded, the military fired at the Gaza perimeter fence area, hitting a-Sameiri.
THE FALSE NARRATIVE
“Killed outside his home, … 500 meters away from the Gaza perimeter fence … an hour before … a soldier was wounded … by armed militants … after the soldier was wounded, the military fired at the Gaza perimeter fence area, hitting a-Sameiri.”
THE FACTUAL NARRATIVE:
Taysir Smeiri was the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades’ commander of the “Monitoring Unit” in al-Qarara. On 12/24/14 he went to work monitoring the movements of the Israeli Defense Forces. When he reached his “observation point”, and “in the performance of his mission”, he was targeted and killed by ONE missile fired by a “reconnaissance aircraft”. VICTIMIZATION
The B’Tselem databases create the illusion that Palestinian combatants killed by the Israeli security apparatus are victims, victims of an “occupier“. The Taysir al-Smeiri narrative is an example of this misinformation.
Smeiri, B’Tselem alleges, was the victim of indiscriminate fire from Israeli troops after one of their soldiers was wounded: “after the soldier was wounded, the military fired at the Gaza perimeter fence AREA, hitting a-Sameiri.” B’Tselem further states that he was killed outside his home. This narrative creates an issue of moral legitimacy, that Israel does not adhere to conventionally accepted standards of conduct. B’Tselem would have the reader believe that Smeiri was killed outside his home, not engaged in combat, killed by indiscriminate, reckless Israeli fire.
The B’Tselem narrative, however, is patently false. Smeiri WAS NOT killed “outside his home” due to indiscriminate random IDF fire. He was killed by a missile while at his “observation point … in the performance of his mission”. There was no Israeli fire directed at AN AREA. One missile was directed at al-Smeiri, he was specifically targeted and killed. He was the commander of the monitoring unit in al-Qarara whose job was monitoring the movements of the Israeli Defense Forces.
The B’Tselem narrative that Smeiri was killed outside his home by Israeli fire directed at the Gaza perimeter fence area is not only patently false, either intentionally or unintentionally, it has defined Smeiri as the victim.
Taysir al-Smeiri, the terror operative combatant, re-imagined by B’Tselem as the victim.
While the B’Tselem databases have re-imagined Palestinian terror operative combatants as victims, the U.S. Department of Justice has identified who the truthful victims were, they closed down a Hamas fundraising scheme and will redirect the Hamas assets to the factual victims, the victims of their terrorism. The event documented below occurred in August 2020:
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE SEIZURE
The original Humanize Palestine website memorialized al-Qassam Brigades terror operatives, and B’Tselem represented them as victims, Taysir Yusef Muslem a-Sameiri is one example.
Now the real victims have been identified. The U.S. Department of Justice has seized al-Qassam Brigades assets, funds and websites, used to finance their terror campaigns. The monies will be directed to the United States Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism Fund.
