Truce Over, Gaza War Back On
August 8, 2014
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Israel and militants from Gaza resumed cross-border attacks on Aug. 8, after a three-day truce expired and talks brokered by Egypt on a new border deal for the blockaded coastal territory hit a deadlock.
Israel launched at least 10 airstrikes in response to rocket and mortar fire from Gaza. One hit the backyard of a mosque and killed a 10-year-old boy, Palestinian officials said.
In Israel, two people were hurt by rocket fire, police said.
Within minutes after the temporary truce expired at 8 a.m. (0500 GMT), Gaza militants began firing rockets. By midday, 33 rockets had been fired. Twenty-six landed in Israel, three were intercepted and four fell short in Gaza, the army said.
Israel eventually responded with what the military said were strikes “across Gaza,” without elaborating.
Police in Gaza said most of the strikes hit empty fields, but that one struck the backyard of the Nour al-Mohammadi Mosque in the Gaza City neighborhood of Sheik Radwan.
Gaza health official Ashraf al-Kidra said a 10-year-old boy was killed and five boys were wounded, one of them critically.

Dozens of rockets fired at Israel as Hamas ends ceasefire, IDF hits back
Israel waits 2.5 hours as rockets from Gaza pummel Negev towns, then resumes air campaign suspended on Tuesday
By ADIV STERMAN and AP
8 August 2014, 11:07 am
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon ordered the IDF Friday to “respond with force” to rocket fire against Israel originating from the Gaza Strip, after Palestinian terror groups in Gaza broke the ceasefire at 8 a.m. and began firing dozens of rockets at southern Israel.
Within minutes after the temporary truce expired at 8 a.m., Gaza militants began firing rockets. By afternoon, some 40 rockets had been fired. Some 30 landed in Israel, several were intercepted and at least four fell short in Gaza, the army said. Four Israelis were hurt, one seriously. One rocket landed meters from a gasoline station. Later, a rocket directly hit a home in Sderot.
Israel eventually responded with what the military said were strikes “across Gaza.” Police in Gaza said that most of the strikes hit empty fields, but that one struck the backyard of the Nour al-Mohammadi Mosque in the Gaza City neighborhood of Sheik Radwan, killing a 10-year-old boy.

Israel, Hamas resume attacks after Gaza cease-fire expires
Militants in the Gaza Strip launched rockets shortly after the 3-day cease-fire ended. The Israelis answered with airstrikes.
August 8, 2014
By Karin Laub and Mohammed Daraghmeh Associated Press
GAZA CITY, GAZA STRIP
Gaza militants resumed rocket attacks on Israel on Friday, refusing to extend a three-day truce after Egyptian-brokered talks between Israel and Hamas on a new border deal for blockaded Gaza hit a deadlock.
Israel responded with a series of airstrikes, including one that killed a 10-year-old boy and wounded five children near a Gaza City mosque, Palestinian officials said. Two Israelis were wounded by rocket fire, police said.
Israel eventually responded to the rockets with what the military said were strikes “across Gaza,” without elaborating.
Police in Gaza said most of the strikes hit empty fields, but that one struck the backyard of the Nour al-Mohammadi Mosque in the Gaza City neighborhood of Sheik Radwan.

PATENTLY FALSE NARRATIVE, ORIGINAL HUMANIZE PALESTINE WEBSITE
ORIGINAL HUMANIZE PALESTINE WEBSITE
“Ibrahim Zoheir ad-Dawawisa, 10 years old, was killed … by Israeli shelling at the Nour al Mohammedi mosque … He was the first death since fighting resumed following the expiration of the three-day ceasefire.“
THE FACTS, MATERIAL FACTS
The original Humanize Palestine website narrative is as follows: Ibrahim al-Dawawisa was the first death when fighting resumed following the expiration of a three-day ceasefire. He was killed by Israeli shelling at a mosque. The narrative states that when fighting resumed, the 10 year old was killed when Israel shelled a mosque, “shelling at the Nour al Mohammedi mosque“. There was NO SHELLING AT THE MOSQUE.
Material facts are missing from this narrative.
1- Gaza militants refused to extend the truce and when it expired, they fired rockets into Israel, 40 rockets, a home destroyed and four Israeli wounded.
2- IN RESPONSE to this attack, Israel launched air strikes “across Gaza”.
3- There was no Israeli shelling at the mosque. One of the 10 airstrikes launched by Israelis in response to the Gaza militants’ attack, hit the backyard of the mosque and killed the 10 year old.
By leaving out material facts, falsifying the narrative, the original Humanize Palestine website presented a story lacking candor. They falsely represented that a 10 year old Palestinian was killed during an attack on a mosque, “a shelling at the Nour al Mohammedi mosque”, an unprovoked attack on a mosque.
