Mayor Anis Abu Shamala was killed on Tuesday July 29, 2014 when an airstrike from an F-16 hit his home in the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. Four others are reported to have been killed in the same attack, some of whom had taken refuge there from intense artillery shelling nearby.

CLARIFICATION
As Hamas’s senior most terror operative in the Southern Gaza Strip, Shamalah oversaw various terror activities aimed at killing Israeli civilians and soldiers. He has been involved in numerous attacks over the years including the 1994 murder of an IDF officer in Rafah, a 2004 attack on an IDF military post, and the attack that led to Gilad Shalit’s abduction. He was killed in a targetted air strike early on August 21.

The three logos that appear in the above post are those of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades. They appear in their correct hierarchical order with the Muslim Brotherhood at the top.
Hamas is a Palestinian extension of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades is the military wing of Hamas.
The arrangement of the logos in the above poster explain Anis Abu Shamala’s affiliations. First, he was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, and then a leader in the Hamas terrorist organization. He was also a Commander in the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.

FACT #1: Amira Shamala, Anis Abu Shamala’s daughter made the following statement: “My father is a leader in Hamas and the mayor of Al-Bureij“. He was FIRST, a leader in Hamas and a commander in the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades. After that, he was in addition, a mayor, of secondary importance.
FACT #2: Four others were NOT killed in the attack. Amira Shamala: “… my father, my grandfather and my cousin were martyred, and nearly 9 were wounded…” Five WERE NOT killed, three were killed.
HAMAS / IZZ AL-DIN AL-QASSAM BRIGADES FUNDRAISING SCHEME
Prior to August 2020, the Hamas and Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades websites had a green banner at the top of their home page. This is how the home page of Hamas’ TV station, al-Aqsa TV, appeared on March 16, 2020:

The green banner contained an embedded URL that linked to the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades website. Clicking on the green banner would open this webpage:
This was a fund raising scheme utilizing cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, to underwrite its terrorism (“resistance”). Note that the solicitation is in English. This would indicate that the fund raising scheme not only targeted Arabic speaking countries but English speaking western countries as well, such as the U.S.
In August 2020, the U.S. government seized the website, funds and assets:

The original Humanize Palestine website memorialized Hamas and al-Qassam Brigades terror operatives, Anis Abu Shamala was one example. In their own words, they honored the deceased terror operatives as martyrs by bringing them back to life through their pictures, stories, art, and poetry.
Now the victims of these terror operatives have been honored. The U.S. Department of Justice has seized al-Qassam Brigades assets, funds and websites, used to finance their terror campaigns. The monies will be directed to the United States Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism Fund.
