Five members of the Dheir family were killed on July 29, 2014 in an Israeli F-16 missile attack on their home in Rafah:
- Turkeyya Dheir, 80 years old
- Yasmeen Dheir, 25 years old
- Ezzat Dheir, 23 years old
- Mary Dheir, 12 years old
- Tasneem Dheir, 8 years old
Pictured: Ezzat Dheir, 23 years old, was a journalist working for a local radio.
The al-Hurriya (Freedom) Radio issued a statement denouncing the ongoing Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, including journalists and medics, adding that Ezzat was its correspondent in Gaza.
Pictured: Tasneem Dheir was only 8 years old when her life was stolen.
Ahmed Duhair, 27, who is related to the Duhair family that perished, told Al-Monitor, “Twenty individuals were in the house when jets fired a missile at the building. So everyone went down the ladder to escape. Twenty seconds later, F-16 jets bombed them and they all died, except for their brother and father, who are still alive. Both were at the mosque. None of them belonged to the resistance.”

أيها الشهداء أنتم الأحياء.. أنتم الحياة كلها.. بل أنتم الذين تصنعون من الموت أناشيد الحياة.. أنتم النصر كل النصر.. لأن النصر شجرة لا تروى إلا بالدماء.. فلا نامت أعين الجبناء.
سنذكركم أيها أبطال.. سنذكركم وفي القلب اشتياق لكم.. سنذكركم في الصباح والمساء.. سنذكركم في الليل والنهار.. سنذكركم في كل وقت وحين.. ونحن نقول “ولا تحسبن الذين قتلوا في سبيل الله أمواتا بل أحياء عند ربهم يرزقون”.

ميلاد البطل
من بين أشجار الزيتون والليمون التي تعلن أن هذه الأرض هي أرض الرباط إلى يوم الدين، سُمع صراخ طفل في المهد، سيكبر يوما ويحمل السلاح ويقارع الاحتلال, إنه الشهيد المجاهد عزت سلامة محمود ضهير الذي أضاء سماء فلسطين بقدومه في العاشر من يوليو للعام الحادي والتسعين بعد التسعمائة وألف للميلاد.
في كنف بيت متواضع نشأ عزت لأسرة فلسطينية تعيش على البساطة ليكون ترتيبه بين اخوته الأخير ويكون الطفل المدلل لعائلته المكونة من والديه وستة أشقاء وأربعة شقيقات .
تلقى شهيدنا المجاهد عزت ظهير تعليمه الابتدائي والإعدادي في مدارس الحكومة ليحصد الدرجات العليا، وينتقل إلى مدرسة شهداء رفح الثانوية ليكمل مشواره التعليمي، ويتخرج بعد اثنى عشر عاماً من الدراسة بتحصيل عام “جيد جداً” ليلتحق بجامعة الأٌقصى ويدرس بكلية الصحافة والإعلام ليحمل على عاتقه أداء رسالة الحقيقة وكشف جرائم الاحتلال بحق أبناء شعبه.
علاقة شهيدنا بوالديه
اتصف شهيدنا بالعديد من الصفات الحميدة التي جعلته محبوباً بين الجميع، وكان “عزت” شاباً خلوقاً دائم الابتسامة في وجه إخوانه، ذو علاقة طيبة جداً مع والديه، ويتمتع بعلاقات اجتماعية واسعة مع الجميع.
ربطت “عزت” علاقة قوية بوالديه الذي كان يكن لهم كل الاحترام والتقدير, فكان الابن البار الذي يقدم ما يملك لنيل رضى والدته بعد وفاة أبيه, طالباً منها الرضا والدعوات الجميلة التي تصعد إلى الله وكلها أمنيات بالتوفيق والسداد في كل خطوة يخطوها نحو التميز والارتقاء.
كانت علاقة “عزت” مميزة مع جميع إخوانه، لا يفرق بين أحد منهم فجميعهم قريبون إلى قلبه, يشاركهم في أفراحهم وأحزانهم, مع انه الأصغر سناً بينهم إلا أنه كان دائماً يستمر بإعطاء النصيحة لهم وخاصة بالأوقات العصيبة, وكان يداعب أبنائهم الصغار ويمازحهم, لا يغضب أحداً منهم، وكان بمثابة أخ لهؤلاء الأطفال لأنه القريب إلى قلوبهم.
عرف “عزت” بين أهل حيه بحسن أدبه وعلو أخلاقه وجمال صفاته وسماته، وتميز بعلاقاته الممتازة مع جميع أهل الحي الذين كانوا يكنون له الكثير من الحب والود والاحترام، فكان يقدم يد المساعدة والعون لكل من يحتاج لها دون أن يطلب منه، وكان يشاركهم في مناسباتهم السعيدة ويقف بجوارهم في أحزانهم وأتراحهم ويواسيهم ويخفف عنهم، وكان يسير بين أهل الحي بكل حب وخير وصلاح، ينهاهم عن فعل المنكر، ويرشدهم إلي الصواب, فالجميع يشهد لهذا الشهيد الفذ بحسن الأخلاق والعطاء.
في أحضان المساجد
حرص “عزت” أن ينطبق عليه حديث رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم “شاب نشأ في عبادة الله” , “ورجل قلبه تعلق بالمساجد” فكان نعم الشاب الصائم القائم المرشد في المساجد .
وعرف “عزت” بالتزامه الحديدي بالمسجد، حيث كان يواظب على الصلاة وخاصة صلاة الفجر في مسجد عمار بن ياسر, وكان يحث الشباب على الاهتمام بالصلاة في المساجد وترك الجلسات الفارغة التي لا تسمن ولا تغني من جوع مقابل تضييع صلاة الجماعة.
حفظ شهيدنا عزت كتاب الله وهو لا يزال صغيراً في السن، وقد غمرته مشاعر الفرح عندما أتم حفظه، وفي هذه المناسبة توجه لوالدته بالقول “الآن أنا راض عن نفسي لأني سألبسك ووالدي تاج الوقار يوم القيامة”، وبعدها نصّب إماماً لمسجد “الأمين محمد ” في خربة العدس وكان رغم صغر سنه يؤم بالمصليين بصوته العذب يتلذذ الجميع بسماعه.
عزت الصوام، كان يحافظ علي سنة الرسول محمد صل الله عليه وسلم بصومه النوافل, فكان يصوم الاثنين والخميس من كل أسبوع، والأيام البيض من الأشهر العربية.
عزت ضهير الصحفي
تخرج الفارس “عزت ضهير” من جامعة الأقصى من قسم الصحافة والإعلام لينتقل بعدها إلى المعترك الإعلامي بجهده وجهاده يرسم حلمه في مهنة الصحافة والإعلام.
والتحق فيما بعد بعدد من الدورات الإعلامية التخصصية دون كلل أو ملل، لحبه الشديد لمهنة الصحافة فعمل ضمن الطاقم الإعلامي لحركة الجهاد الإسلامي في فلسطين بإقليم رفح وبرز دوره كمراسل وصحفي في الأحداث الميدانية لبعض الإذاعات ليصدح بالحقيقة بصوته العذب إلى أن التحق بركب الشهداء بعد إرسال أخر رصد ميداني للأحداث التي تدو ر بمدينة رفح عبر إحدى الإذاعات الفلسطينية.
مشواره الجهادي
كيف لا يكون للصقور بصمة في المعارك, فصقرنا “عزت” انضم إلي حركة الجهاد الإسلامي وذراعها العسكري سرايا القدس وهو شبلاً , وبدأ مشواره بالمشاركة في المهرجانات والزيارات التي تقيمها الحركة بين الفينة والأخرى , فكبر الصقر وازداد نشاطاً ليثبت نفسه بأنه قادر على تحمل أعباء الحياة ومرارة الظلم , وسرعان ما التحق بصفوف الجناح العسكري سرايا القدس سريعاً لشجاعته وجرأته وبديهته .
حرص “عزت” أن يكون من أولئك الرجال الذين يقارعون الاحتلال , فكان دائماً ما يشغل نفسه بطلعات الرباط , ليحافظ على ما تبقى من هذه الأرض.
لم ينتهي مشوار الصقر بعد, فعزت الشاب الملتزم بالمساجد، أصر على أن يأخذ دوره في الجهاز الدعوي للحركة الجهادية, وكان يخرج مع ثلة من الشيوخ لجميع مساجد رفح لإعطاء الندوات والدروس والمواعظ الدينية للشباب الحريصين علي نيل الثواب وتحصيل الأجر من دروس وحلقات العلم.
كما تمكن شهيدنا “عزت” من أن يصدح بصوته للمجاهدين على إحدى الموجات اللاسلكية التابعة لسلاح الإشارة بلواء رفح، لإعطائهم بعض الإرشادات والأوامر من خلال الموجة، وظل على هذا الحال إلى آخر لحظات حياته.
ورحل البطل الهمام في اليوم الثاني من أيام عيد الفطر المبارك كانت الفاجعة الكبيرة , تسعة عشر شهيداً كانوا جميعاً تحت أنقاض بيتهم الذي رسموا أحلامهم وعاشوا طفولتهم فيه, فطائرات الاحتلال لم ترحم أحداً عندما أطلقت في فجر يوم التاسع والعشرون من شهر يوليو/تموز، صواريخ موتها وحقدها على منزل الشهيد “عزت ضهير” وتحيله إلى ركام فوق رؤوس من فيه, ويكون “عزت” من بين الشهداء التسعة عشر الذين ارتقوا في هذه المجزرة البشعة، والتي لم تبقي من العائلة إلا ثلاث أخوة كانوا خارج البيت وطفلة صغيرة قذفها ضغط الانفجار إلى خارج المنزل ونجت بأعجوبة.
فيا ساكن الجنان حدثنا عن روعة اللقاء بالأبرار ,, رحمك الله يا أبا حفص وأسكنك الفردوس أنت وعائلتك .

Ezzat Dheir communicated with al-Quds Brigades fighters of the Al-Rafah Brigade via radio. He gave them instructions and commands. He did this during the last moments of his life, which was in his house with family members present (Tasneem Dheir). The IDF most likely identified the location of Dheir’s radio traffic (transmissions), a command and control facility, targeted it, killing him and his family members who were present with him.

THE FACTS
Ezzat Dheir was not merely a “reporter” for a radio station. He was a military-terrorist operative, a member of the al-Quds Brigades’ al-Rafah Brigades. He worked for the “military media” unit of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, al-Quds Brigades.
Missing from the original Humanize Palestine narrative, that five members of the Dheir family were killed in an Israeli missile attack on their home, was the fact that the family home was targeted because Ezzat Dheir was using a radio in his house, to transmit command and control messages to terror combatants. He was doing this “… to the last moments of his life.” He was doing this until the Israeli military located the source of the terrorist radio traffic and silenced it by attacking the structure that housed it, the Dheir family home.
“None of them belonged to the resistance”, this is false. The house was being used for command and control purposes by Ezzat Dheir, a military terror operative of the al-Quds Brigades, a U.S. designated Foreign Terrorist Organization.
CREATING FALSE NARRATIVES WITH PHOTOGRAPHS
The original Humanize Palestine website routinely did this, the photographs of the Palestinian ‘martyrs’ on their website concealed their terror organization affiliation. Ezzat Dheir was an example of this.

The photograph of Dheir on the left is how Dheir is portrayed on the original Humanize Palestine website, his terror organization affiliation concealed, a journalist working for a local radio, killed on July 29, 2014 in an Israeli F-16 missile attack on his home in Rafah.
The photograph on the right is who Ezzat Dheir truthfully was, a terror operative combatant. This is the Dheir who appears on the al-Quds Brigades website, the Dheir who “succeeded in casting his voice to the mujahideen of one of the radio waves of the Al-Rafah brigade, to give them some instructions and commands through the wave, and he remained this way to the last moments of his life.“
COMMENT
The original Humanize Palestine narrative got it partially correct, Dheir was “working for a local radio”, he was “working for a local radio”, “to the last moments of his life”. He was working the Brigades’ military radio, giving “some instructions and commands through the wave”, until the Israelis located the source of the command and control radio traffic and targeted it, killing Dheir.
