Dr. Bashir Ibrahim al-Hajjar was an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the Islamic University of Gaza. He was killed on July 29, 2014 when Israel targeted a UNRWA vehicle in northern Gaza. His brother Samir [Muneer] was also killed in the attack.
Dr. al-Hajjar held 3 PhD degrees. Some of his research included “Internet addiction and psychological morbidity among nursing students in Gaza-Palestine,” “Occupational stress among hospital nurses in Gaza-Palestine,” and “Gaza Nurses After War: Are They Traumatized?”

A scientist who studied at Manchester University has been killed after the UN car he was in was hit during an Israeli military assault on Gaza.
Dr Bashir al-Hajjar died alongside his younger brother Muneer during the strike in Beer al-Naja in the north of the region. They were travelling in a marked United Nations Relief and Works Agency car when shells landed in front of it and on its bonnet.
Relatives told the M.E.N. how Dr al-Hajjar, a father-of-one, died instantly – while Muneer, who worked for the UN, lived for six minutes as he begged rescuers to help his brother and not him.
Muneer’s eight-year-old son, also in the vehicle, survived but has been left with serious leg injuries.

INCIDENT SUMMARY
Muneer and Bashir al-Hajjar were traveling in an UNRWA car. The vehicle was targeted with precision weapons. Bashir was killed in the vehicle and an 8 year old child in the vehicle was wounded but not killed. Muneer exited the vehicle and was killed within several minutes by another precision weapon.

Our martyr, the mujahid, joined the ranks of the Islamic Jihad movement from a young age and was arrested by the occupation forces on the grounds of his political affiliation, and then he continued the path of resistance through his scientific research that focused on the homeland and the Zionist attacks on the Palestinians to expose the occupation on the global level.
SUMMARY
Bashir Ibrahim al-Hajjar joined the terror organization, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, at a young age. After his arrest by the Israeli security apparatus, he continued on the path of “resistance” [terrorism] through various means that are not well defined such as “scientific research that focused on the homeland and the Zionist attacks on the Palestinians to expose the occupation on the global level.” The word “resistance” is a Palestinian euphemism for terrorism.
