Journalist Abdul Rahman Ziad Abu Hein, 28 years old, was martyred on July 23, 2014 at dawn when his home was targeted by Israeli bombs in the Shuja’iyyah neighborhood of Gaza City. He was the producer at Al-Kitab Satellite TV station. He is the third journalist to be killed since the beginning of Israel’s attack on Gaza. The two others are Khalid Hamad and Hamed Shihab.

الميلاد والنشأة

ولد عبد الرحمن بن زياد بن حسن أبو هين في المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية بتاريخ 1/7/1988م، ونشأ في جو من الالتزام بتعاليم الإسلام، ولما اشتد عوده تزوج ورزقه الله مولودًا.
وكان متميزًا متفوقًا في دراسته، شديد الذكاء، حيث التحق بالجامعة الإسلامية، وحصل على درجة البكالوريوس في قسم الصحافة والإعلام بتقدير جيد جدًّا، وكان مجتهدًا محبًّا للدراسة راغبًا في هذا العمل في ميدان الصحافة والإعلام.

صفاته وأخلاقه

كان عبد الرحمن واسع الاطلاع والخيال، يروي القصص والحكايات، وهذا يدل على سعة خياله، كما تميز بالهدوء، يحب الناس ويساعدهم، كان شديد الحياء، محبًّا لوالديه.

محطات في حياته

تربى منذ صغره على القيم والمثل والأخلاق العليا، وتعلق قلبه بالمسجد، وتفاعل مع قرنائه في مراحل دراسته الأولى في الكتلة الإسلامية، كما شارك في أنشطة مسجد الرضوان.
تدرج في مراتب الدعوة، حتى أصبح رقيبًا مربيًّا في الجماعة، ثم التحق في صفوف كتائب القسام عام 2007م ضمن سلاح الدروع، ثم الدفاع الجوي، وحصل على دورات عسكرية خارج الوطن، ثم عمل مدربًا في القسام.

استشهاده

كان عبد الرحمن على موعد مع الشهادة، حيث مكث مع جده حسن، وابن عمه أسامة في البيت بعد أن خرج الأهالي من بيوتهم، فاستهدفت طائرات العدو المنزل، وارتقى الثلاثة إلى العلا بتاريخ 23/7/2018م.

Birth and upbringing
Abdel Rahman ibn Ziad bin Hassan Abu Hain was born in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on 1 July 1988, and arose in an atmosphere of commitment to the teachings of Islam, and when the return of marriage and the living of God grew.
He was distinguished in his highly intelligent study, where he joined the Islamic University, and received a bachelor’s degree in the press and media department with a very good appreciation, and was a diligent student of study wanting this work in the field of journalism and media.

His qualities and manners
Abdul Rahman was very familiar and imaginative, telling stories and tales, and this shows the capacity of his imagination, as well as calm, he loves and helps people, he was very ashamed, loving his parents.

Stations in his life
Since his childhood, he has been raised to the highest values, ideals and morals, his heart has been attached to the mosque, he has interacted with his peers in his first studies in the Islamic bloc, and he has participated in the activities of the Radwan mosque.
Included in the Da’wa ranks, until he became an educator in the group, then joined al-Qassam Brigades in 2007, within the Armor Corps, then air defense, and obtained military courses outside the country, then he worked as a trainer in al-Qassam.

His martyrdom
Abdul Rahman was on a date with the certificate, where he stayed with his grandfather Hassan, and his cousin Osama in the house after the people came out of their homes, the enemy planes targeted the house, and the three rose to Al Ula on 23/7/2018.

Abdul Rahman Ziad Abu Hein was a member of a prominent Hamas family. The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades is the military wing of Hamas.

Abdul Rahman Ziad Abu Hein was a “Qassami”, an Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades fighter with the rank of Field Commander.

He enrolled in the Islamic University, earned a bachelor’s degree in the Department of Journalism and wanted to work in the field of journalism and media. He eventually became a TV reporter for a Hamas run TV station at the Islamic University.

He joined the ranks of the Al-Qassam Brigades in 2007, first in Armored Corps, and then Air Defense. He received military courses outside his homeland, Gaza, and then served as a trainer in the Qassam Brigades.

He died in his grandfather’s house on July 23, 2014, with another “Qassami”, a cousin. The house was specifically targeted by an Israeli F16 aircraft with two missiles while Abdul Rahman and his cousin Osama were engaged in activities “unrelated to media coverage.”

Field Commander Abdul Rahman Ziad Abu Hein was killed with his grandfather and with his cousin, Osama Saqr Abu Hein. Osama and Abdul Rahman were al-Qassam Brigades terrorists, “Qassamis”, terror combatants. The rare photograph above shows a young Osama Saqr Abu Hein (standing) together with his father and Sheik Ahmed Yassin, one of the founders of Hamas and its spiritual leader.

PATENTLY FALSE NARRATIVE, ORIGINAL HUMANIZE PALESTINE WEBSITE

The original Humanize Palestine website contains many narratives whose stories overlap. Some of these terror operatives on the website are either related by family, by the terror organizations they belong to, or by a shared incident. All the narratives are false and in effect, conceal the true identity of the terrorist. The Abdul Rahman Ziad Abu Hein narrative is an example of this obfuscation.

“He is the third journalist to be killed … The two others are Khalid Hamad and Hamed Shihab.”

In this case, involving three individuals, there is no shared terror organization, family or incident. In this concealment strategy, the shared factor is their alleged profession, “Journalist”. The three false narratives reinforce the concealment process of each. Hein, Hamad and Shihab were not journalist, as alleged. Both Hein and Hamad were “Qassamis”, al-Qassam Brigades soldiers and Shihab was a Fatah terrorist.

Hamad’s webpage on the al-Qassam Brigades website states the following: “He participated in many special missions and worked in the media office in the battalion.”

Shihab was not a journalist. He was a taxi driver working as a driver for Media 24, a South African-based news organization. When targeted and killed he was driving a vehicle being used to transport weaponry intended to be used against IDF forces or the Israeli civilian population that same day and whose passengers were involved in the hostilities.

FACT #1

When killed, Abdul Rahman Ziad Abu Hein was not a “journalist”. He was a “Qassami”, an Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades terror combatant with the rank of Field Commander. He had been in the terror organization’s Armored Corps and then their Air Defense unit. He had received military training outside of his native Gaza and he served as a trainer in the al-Qassam Brigades.

FACT #2

He did not die in his home, his home was not targeted. He died in his grandfather’s home, Hajj Hassan Abu Hain (70 years old).

FACT #3

His grandfather’s home was not targeted by Israeli bombs. The home was specifically targeted by an F-16 aircraft which fired two missiles at the home.

FACT #4

Abu Hein was not the third journalist to be killed. He was not a journalist and neither were the other two, Khalid Hamad and Hamed Shihab.

IDF MILITARY ADVOCATE GENERAL

The MAG found that the targeting process accorded with Israeli domestic law and international law requirements. The attack was carried out against a military objective, in accordance with the requirements of the principle of proportionality, and the decision to carry out the attack was made by the authorities authorized to do so. It should be noted that, according to the factual findings, at the time of the strike the IDF forces could not discern whether the vehicle was marked ‘TV’. In any event, in light of the military use made of the vehicle for the purposes of transporting weaponry, the marking of the vehicle did not affect the lawfulness of the strike under international law. The MAG further found that the targeting process was carried out after undertaking various precautions with significant efforts to minimize the possibility of civilian harm. Such, the strike on the vehicle was at one point delayed, due to the concern that civilians in its vicinity could be harmed. Furthermore, no supporting evidence was found indicating harm caused to persons other than Shahab.

Field Commander Abbul Rahman Ziad Abu Hein is seen holding up the index finger of his right hand. The raised index finger signifies the “oneness of God” in Islam, a gesture traditionally used during sermons. The gesture more recently has been used by jihadis. Within the jihadi context, the raised index finger takes on political meaning as well, rejecting any form of government not under Shariah law. (Rita Katz, SITE Intelligence Group)

CREATING FALSE NARRATIVES WITH PHOTOGRAPHS

The original Humanize Palestine website routinely did this, the photographs of the ‘martyrs’ on their website concealed their terror organization affiliation. Abdul Rahman Ziad Abu Hein was an example of this.

Prior to August 2020, the Hamas and Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades websites had a green banner at the top of their home page. This is how the home page of Hamas’ TV station, al-Aqsa TV, appeared on March 16, 2020:

The green banner contained an embedded URL that linked to the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades website. Clicking on the green banner would open this webpage:

This was a fund raising scheme utilizing cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, to underwrite its terrorism (“resistance”). Note that the solicitation is in English. This would indicate that the fund raising scheme not only targeted Arabic speaking countries but English speaking western countries as well, such as the U.S.

In August 2020, the U.S. government seized the website, funds and assets:

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE SEIZURE

The original Humanize Palestine website memorialized al-Qassam Brigades terror operatives, Abdul Rahman Ziad Abu Hein was one example. In their own words, they honored the deceased terror operatives as martyrs by bringing them back to life through their pictures, stories, art, and poetry.

Now the victims of these terror operatives have been honored. The U.S. Department of Justice has seized al-Qassam Brigades assets, funds and websites, used to finance their terror campaigns. The monies will be directed to the United States Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism Fund.
