Jihad Shehada al-Jaafari, 19 years old, was killed on February 24, 2015 by Israeli Occupation Forces in Dheisheh Refugee Camp, near Bethlehem. He was shot at close range during a raid on the camp.
According to the New York Times, The Palestinian Authority governor of the Bethlehem area, Jibreen al-Bakri, said that the Israeli soldiers had come to arrest a camp resident and denied that Mr. Jaafari had been involved in the violence, accusing the Israeli troops of killing him without provocation.
“This 19-year-old young man was asleep in his house, but when he heard the noise, he went to his roof to see what was happening,” Mr. Bakri told Voice of Palestine radio.
“Israeli snipers immediately opened fire and shot him in cold blood,” he said.
Jihad’s mother said her son was defending his home and refugee camp and called upon Palestinian officials to defend the rights of Palestinians.
Jihad had been studying hotel management at Talitha Kumi Community College in Beit Jala, another West Bank village. He had hoped to become a chef.
“I always told him to focus on his studies instead of putting his life in danger, but he loved Palestine too much,” his mother Hanan told The Electronic Intifada. “He always dreamed of seeing Palestine free and returning to Deir Rafat, our original village [located west of Jerusalem] before the Nakba.”

An IDF soldier was lightly wounded and a Palestinian man from the Deheisha Refugee Camp near the West Bank city of Bethlehem was killed overnight Tuesday during clashes with IDF troops. Riots broke out at the camp after the troops entered the area. During the clashes, Jihad Shahada al-Jaafari, a 19-year-old Palestinian, was killed.
An Israeli military spokeswoman said the Palestinians hurled rocks, blocks and firebombs at the troops, wounding one soldier lightly. “The force, feeling imminent danger to their lives, responded with fire toward an instigator,” she added.
The Palestinian youth was evacuated by the Palestine Red Crescent to a hospital, and later died from his injuries.
Residents of the camp claimed that al-Jaafari was shot in the shoulder while he was in the area of his home, and that the Palestinian rescue forces were initially not permitted to reach him. Deheishe is the oldest refugee camp in the West Bank. The camp, which was established by the UN 60 years ago, houses approximately 13,000 Palestinians.

Thousands attend funeral for Palestinian teenager

Thousands of mourners on Tuesday attended the funeral of 19-year-old Jihad Shehada al-Jaafari, who was shot and killed during a dawn arrest raid in Duheisha refugee camp.
Mourners received the body of the teenager in Duheisha camp after an autopsy in Al-Quds University’s forensic medicine unit.
The body was then taken for burial at the Martyrs Cemetery south of Bethlehem in Artas.
Al-Jaafari’s father told that his son lay bleeding for an hour and a half on the rooftop where he was shot before anyone had realized what happened.
“His mother called him an hour before he was killed telling him to come back home, but he never did.”
Relatives began looking for Jihad immediately after Israeli soldiers had left the camp following a dawn arrest raid, and found his body on the rooftop where he was shot.
He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Jihad’s mother said her son was defending his home and refugee camp and called upon Palestinian officials to defend the rights of Palestinians.
Israeli soldiers opened fire randomly after raiding the camp, injuring several youths, she added.
Medics said the teenager died of internal bleeding, with witnesses at the scene saying Israeli forces stopped ambulances from reaching his body.
Stores closed their doors in Bethlehem stores as a mark of respect for the killed teenager.
A spokeswoman for the Israeli army said that troops were attacked by people throwing stones and incendiary devices, adding that one soldier was wounded.
“After trying in vain to disperse the crowd of attackers, our forces felt in danger and opened fire at the leader of the rioters, who was hit,” the spokeswoman said, without elaborating.

OCCUPIED RAMALLAH, Palestine: Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, the military and a Palestinian hospital official said.
Residents of the Deheishe refugee camp in Bethlehem said Palestinians threw stones at Israeli soldiers who had entered the area and the troops opened fire.
An Israeli military spokeswoman claimed the Palestinians hurled rocks, blocks and firebombs at the troops, wounding one soldier.
A Palestinian hospital official identified the dead man as 20-year-old Jihad al-Jaafari.

استشهد فجر اليوم الثلاثاء، الشاب جهاد شحادة الجعفري 19 عاما جراء إصابته برصاص الاحتلال الذي توغل في مخيم الدهيشة جنوب شرقي بيت لحم في الضفة المحتلة.
وقالت مصادر إعلامية إن الشهيد الجعفري أصيب برصاصة واحدة اخترقت كتفه الأيسر وتسببت له بنزيف داخلي، نقل على إثرها إلى مستشفى اليمامة لتلقي العلاج، ولكن الأطباء أكدوا أنه وصل إلى المستشفى تشهيداً.
وقال شهود عيان أيضًا، إن مواجهات عنيفة ادلعت أثناء اقتحام قوات الاحتلال لمخيم الدهيشة لاعتقال أحد المواطنين، استخدم خلالها الاحتلال الرصاص الحي بشكل مكثف، وتم استهداف الشاب الجعفري أثناء تواجده على سطح منزله المطل على الشارع الرئيسي.
وأشار الشهود إلى أن جيش الاحتلال منع سيارات الاسعاف من الوصول إلى موقع استشهاد الشاب، ما تسبب باستشهاده بعد وقت قصير من إصابته جراء النزيف الحاد الذي تعرض له.
وأضافت المصادر أنه جرى نقل جثمان الشهيد إلى مستشفى بيت جالا الحكومي في المدينة.
ومن المتوقع أن يتم تشييع الشهيد بعد أداء صلاة الظهر على جثمانه في مسجد الدهيشة الكبير ومن ثم ينقل إلى مقبرة الشهداء في المخيم ليوارى الثرى هناك.

حركة فتح في مخيم الدهيشة تحيي الذكرى الثالثة للشهيد جهاد الجعفري

حسن عبد الجواد – نظمت حركة فتح في مخيم الدهيشة مهرجانا تأبينيا في الذكرى الثالثة لاستشهاد الشاب جهاد شحادة الجعفري الذي يطلق عليه “شهيد الفجر”.
وحضر المهرجان الذي اقيم في قاعة الشهداء في مخيم الدهيشة أهالي الشهداء والأسرى والجرحى، وفعاليات القوى والمؤسسات الوطنية، وأصدقاء وذوي الشهيد، وحشد من أهالي المخيم والمحافظة.
وابتدأ المهرجان التابيني بالوقوف دقيقة صمت على أرواح الشهداء وقراءة الفاتحة على روحه الطاهرة والنشيد الوطني.
وعقب ذلك دخلت مجموع من الملثمين بالكوفيات الفلسطينية إلى القاعة وهم يحملون صور الشهيد وألقى احدهم كلمة عاهد فيها الشهيد السير على خطاه في مقاومة الاحتلال الإسرائيلي بكل السبل والطرق حتى تحقيق أهداف شعبنا في الحرية والاستقلال والعودة إلى الديار.
وألقى محمد عاهد كلمة حركة فتح في المخيم، حيث رحب فيها بالحضور بهذه المناسبة الوطنية العطرة وقال “نحيي اليوم ذكرى شهيد من شهداء شعبنا اسمر البشرة متجهم الوجه مشمر الساعدين ، حاملا فلسطين في قلبه وعقله، فتحاوي المنشأ والمصير والهدف، عقائدي الانتماء ، متأهب في كل الحالات فلم يترك مناسبة لمقاومة المحتلين الذين اعتادوا التسلل الى مخيمه في الظلام كخفافيش الليل إلا ويخرج ليواجههم ولهذا فقد استهدفوه برصاصهم الحاقد ليرتقي شهيدا في سبيل الوطن وحريته وكرامته.”
وألقى سامي شاهين ممثل جبهة النضال الشعبي كلمة لجنة التنسيق الفصائلي في مخيم الدهيشة، فأشاد بمناقب بالشهيد الجعفري وبدوره في مواجهة ومقارعة الاحتلال، دفاعا عن المخيم، وحقوق وأهداف شعبنا في الحرية وتقرير المصير والعودة.
ودعا شاهين القوى الفلسطينية إلى الإسراع في استكمال المصالحة الوطنية، والدفاع عن القدس والمقدسات الإسلامية والمسيحية في مواجهة القرار الأمريكي بالاعتراف بالقدس عاصمة لدولة الاحتلال، ومساندة ودعم قرار الأسرى الإداريين بمقاطعة المحاكم العسكرية الإسرائيلية، والعمل على توسيع الحراك الشعبي في مواجهة تقليصات وكالة الغوث.
وشكر محمد الجعفري في كلمة له باسم عائلة الشهيد القوى والمؤسسات والفعاليات الوطنية وجميع الحضور على مشاركتهم في مهرجان تأبين الشهيد، وعاهد شعبنا بمواصلة النضال ضد المحتلين حتى تحقيق اهداف شعبنا في الحرية والاستقلال والعودة.

يصّر أصدقاء ورفاق الشهيد جهاد الجعفري (19 عاما)، على تخليد ذكراه بشتى الطرق، وأبرزها رسم جداريات له على جدران مخيم الدهيشة، حيث استشهد.
ويطلق اهالي مخيم الدهيشة، على الجعفري، لقب (شهيد الفجر)، حيث استشهد فجر يوم الثلاثاء 24 شباط الماضي، برصاص قناص احتلالي، وهو على سطح منزله، عقب مواجهات مع قوات الاحتلال التي اقتحمت المخم، فتصدى لها الفتية، وأجبروها على التقهقر.
ومع ساعات المساء لا تهدأ حركة الملثمين في المخيم، خصوصا في محيط منزل الجعفري، ا…لقريب من شارع القدس-الخليل أمام المخيم، ويجهد هؤلاء على تخليد ذكرى رفيقهم الشهيد، بخط شعارات عل الجدران بشكل مكثف.
ولكن آخرين، نشطوا في رسم جداريات تصور الشهيد في عدة حالات، وقال أحدهم، بانهم سيرسمون الشهيد، على مختلف جدران المخيم.
وأنجز الفنان اياد عرفة، جدارية، قبالة منزل الشهيد، تمثله وهو يلقي الحجارة على جنود الاحتلال، مع كلمات معبرة:
أول ساعات الفجر تقوم بأكفانك
في غضب تتوعد كالبرق
تتسلل عبر خيام يستكثرها الجند عليك
تمسح باب القدس بما فيك من الشوق لها
تسقي حدائقها غضبا وتمضي
وقبالة هذه الجدارية، ثمة جدارية أخرى تحمل توقيع الجبهة الشعبية، تخلد ذكرى الشهيد باعتباره: “بطل الحجارة/شهيد الفجر”.
وفي شوارع المخيم، تظهر صور الشهيد بأشكال مختلفة، احداها على الاقل، تمثله باللباس التقليدي، منقولة عن صورة له ضمن نشاطه في فرقة (غربة لاجئ) الفنية، حيث كان يشارك في عروض الفرقة الفنية.
ويصر فتية المخيم، على التصدي لجنود الاحتلال الذين يقتحمون المخيم، وأصيب اثنان منهم، برصاص قوات احتلالية خاصة اقتحمت المخيم قبل يومين.
وعلى الاغلب، يواجه جنود الاحتلال صعوبة في اقتحام المخيم، وتلقى عدد من الشبان تحذيرات من ضباط مخابرات الاحتلال، بتسليم انفسهم لهذه المخابرات، والا فان جنود الاحتلال سيقتحمون المخيم بقوة مضاعفة، واعتبر عدد من الشبان، هذه التهديدات، تعبيرا عن عجز قوات الاحتلال عن تنفيذ مهامها داخل المخيم، حيث فشلت اكثر من مرة باعتقال مطلوبين، نتيجة تصدي الفتية للقوات المقتحمة.

The witnesses pointed out that the occupation army prevented ambulances from reaching the site of the young man’s death, which caused his death shortly after he was injured due to the severe bleeding that he was exposed to.
Witnesses said that during the confrontations, an Israeli soldier was burned from a Molotov cocktail, which youths camp had thrown at the soldiers.
It is expected that the martyr will be funeral after performing the noon prayer on his body in the Dheisheh Grand Mosque and then transferred to the martyrs cemetery in the camp to be buried there.

وداهمت منازل المواطنين وفتشتها، ما ادى لاندلاع مواجهات بين الشبان وجنود الاحتلال الذين فتحوا نيران اسلحتهم اصيب خلالها الشاب الجعفري برصاصة في القلب، وتم نقله الى مستشفى اليمامه في بلدة الخضر، حيث أعلن عن استشهاده.
