Ahmad Na’el Mahdi,16 years old, was killed on Tuesday July 8, 2014 when an IOF drone fired a missile at three children as they were on their way to the local grocery store near their house in Jabaliya in the North Gaza district. Ahmad Na’el Mahdi was killed on the spot. Two were moderately injured; both of whom are 15.
Mahdi’s father informed Al Mezan that his child, Ahmad, asked his mother for a dish called, ‘hummus fetta, for the Ramadan breakfast (iftar) meal. Ahmad said he would buy the ingredients, hummus and bread. The attack took place as Ahmad and his friends were walking to the grocery store, passing a small empty field near the house.
Ahmad liked soccer and was a Real Madrid fan.

A martyr risks his life for many reasons such as dying for their religion or to uphold truth and justice, but a Shaheed is a term used to define an individual who sacrifices their life for Allah’s cause, they want to obey Him and to serve Him, they realize that their lives belong to Allah. A Shaheed is one who has died fulfilling a religious commandment while a martyr is a person who has died adhering to one’s religious beliefs.
An innocent individual killed in a war does not raise one to the status of Shaheed. An individual must have been living the life of submission to God and sacrificing all in His way, even life if need be, to be considered a Shaheed.
It can be said that there are two kinds of Shaheed. A mujahid who goes into battle to defeat the enemy and is instead killed, defeated, has become a Shaheed.
A different type of Shaheed is the individual who does not go into battle with the intention of succeeding in killing the enemy. While he could stay at home, be safe and not risk his life, instead, he rebels and consciously welcomes death. He places himself in the battlefield so that his act will gain notoriety, widely spread , and the cause for which he gave his life may be realized sooner.
In 1928, an Egyptian, Hasan al-Banna established the Muslim Brotherhood. In his treatise on jihad, he pleaded with fellow Muslims not to be afraid to die an honorable death in defense of their lands and religion. They would be rewarded an eternal life in the next world which is reserved for the one who dies while fighting in the way of God which was defined by al-Banna as fighting against the state because it is not the proper Islamic state and martyrdom, becoming a Shaheed, is earned by those who lay down their lives for such a cause.

The Hamas is the Palestinian offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood, and the state Muslims must fight against because it is not the proper Islamic state, is Israel. And the Shaheed in this case was Ahmad Nael Mahdi. He placed himself in the battlefield, was not afraid to die, his death did gain notoriety, and he died fighting in the way of God, living the life of submission to God, he was not an innocent individual who was killed in a war, he was affiliated with Hamas, a Shaheed.

14 years old, resident of Jabalya R.C, North Gaza District, killed on 08 Jul 2014 in Jabalya R.C, North Gaza District, by gunfire from an aircraft. Did not participate in hostilities. Additional information: Killed in the street on his way to the vegetable market in the western part of the refugee camp with two friends. The friends were injured. A rocket had been fired from the area about half an hour earlier.

SUMMARY
Ahmed Nael Mahdi was specifically targeted by an IDF drone. He was the only one killed. He was killed “passing by” a small empty field. About a half hour before he was killed, a rocket had been fired from the same area. A YouTube video addresses him as “Shaheed” and his body is seen covered in a Hamas shroud. These facts would suggest “something” other than what the original Humanize Palestine website states in its narrative.
