Louisiana Teen Shot Dead in West Bank Clash With Israelis

JERUSALEM – An American teen from New Orleans was shot and killed during clashes in the West Bank village of Silwad near Ramallah Friday.
An army spokesman told Reuters Israeli forces “managed to prevent an attack when they encountered a Palestinian man hurling a molotov cocktail at them on the main road next to Silwad. They opened fire and they confirmed a hit.”
Orwa Abd al-Wahhab Hammad, 15, was born in Ramallah and moved with his family to New Orleans, according to his brother Mohammad. His mother and brothers had traveled with him to the West Bank and his father will arrive from the United States on Sunday for the funeral.
The State Department confirms Orwa was a U.S. citizen, and says officials from the Consulate General in Jerusalem are in contact with family and providing all consular assistance….

A Palestinian teenager was shot dead by IDF forces in the West Bank village of Silwad, near Ramallah, on Friday evening.
According to Palestinian media reports, Orwa Abd El-Wahab Hammad, 14, was killed after Friday prayers in the town. A relative of the teen said he was a US citizen.
The IDF said the teenager was 17 and was shot as he was about to hurl a Molotov cocktail at oncoming traffic on Highway 60 in the West Bank, endangering lives.
“The forces fired immediately to neutralize the danger … and confirmed a hit,” an IDF spokeswoman told AFP.

JERUSALEM — Israeli troops on Friday shot and killed a Palestinian teenager who also held American citizenship. The Israeli military said its forces opened fire as the teenager threw a firebomb onto a main road in the West Bank that is often used by Israeli settlers, an account that could not be verified.
Dr. Sameer Saliba, of the Palestinian Medical Complex in Ramallah, said that Orwa Abdel Wahab Hammad, 14, from Silwad, a village northeast of Ramallah, was brought to the hospital about 6 p.m. with a bullet wound to the head, and that he was dead on arrival. Other Palestinian reports put his age at 15 or 17.
Local residents said that Palestinians throwing stones clashed with Israeli soldiers in the village after Friday Prayer, but that Orwa was apparently killed hours later.

Orwah Hammad, 14, was shot in the head in the village of Silwad, north of the Palestinian seat of government in Ramallah.

On the afternoon of October 25, 2014, a Molotov cocktail-throwing Palestinian youth was killed by IDF on a road east of Ramallah. An IDF force engaged in an operational activity near the village of Silwad identified and shot at the youth, who had thrown Molotov cocktails at vehicles on the road (Ynetnews.co.il, October 24, 2014). The Palestinian media claimed that the soldiers deliberately shot and killed him. Rami Hamdallah, prime minister of the national consensus government, condemned the “escalation of Israel’s violations towards the Palestinians,” the most recent of which was the shooting of the youth in Silwad (Maannews.net, October 25, 2014).

زفّت حركة المقاومة الإسلامية “حماس” ابنها الشهيد الفتى عروة عبد الوهاب حماد (15 عامًا)، والذي ارتقى إلى العلا خلال المواجهات العنيفة مع جنود الاحتلال الصهيوني التي شهدتها بلدة سلواد شمال شرق مدينة رام الله.
وقدمت الحركة في تصريح صحفي صدر عنها في مدينة رام الله، التهاني لعائلة الشهيد حماد، وعموم أبناء الشعب الفلسطيني المجاهد، داعية للثأر له ولتصعيد المقاومة رداً على جرائم الاحتلال المتواصلة.
وقالت الحركة إن ابنها الشهيد عروة حماد عُرف بين أقرانه وأهل بلدته بطيب أخلاقه وحسن سلوكه، حيث تربى على حب الجهاد والتضحية في مساجد بلدته سلواد، وقدّم دمه رخيصًا ذودًا عن المسجد الأقصى المبارك، فيما لحق بدرب خاله الشهيد نبيل قدورة الذي ارتقى في الانتفاضة الأولى.
وأكدت الحركة أن دماء الشهداء التي ترتقي تباعًا في الضفة الغربية، والمنتفضة من أجل المسجد الأقصى المبارك هي ما سيرسم الطريق نحو تحرير القدس وإنهاء الاحتلال الغاصب.
كما وجددت الحركة دعوة كافة شرائح الشعب الفلسطيني إلى الالتفاف حول حقوقه وتمسكه بالمقاومة بكافة أشكالها، داعيةً إلى المشاركة الواسعة في المواجهات التي يشعلها الشباب الثائر عند نقاط التماس ضد جنود الاحتلال الصهيوني.

The Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” married her son, the martyr boy, Orwa Abdel Wahab Hammad (15 years), who rose to Al-Ula during the violent confrontations with the Zionist occupation soldiers in the town of Silwad, northeast of Ramallah.
In a press statement issued in the city of Ramallah, the movement extended its congratulations to the family of the martyr Hammad and the general Palestinian Mujahideen people, calling for revenge for him and for the escalation of the resistance in response to the continuing occupation crimes.
The movement said that its martyr son, Orwa Hammad, was known among his peers and the people of his town for his good manners and good behavior, as he was raised to love jihad and sacrifice in the mosques of his town Silwad, and he offered his blood cheap to defend the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque, while he joined the path of his uncle, the martyr Nabil Kaddoura who rose in the first intifada.
The movement confirmed that the blood of the martyrs, which were raised in the West Bank, and rising up for the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, is what will draw the road towards liberating Jerusalem and ending the usurping occupation.
The movement also renewed the call of all segments of the Palestinian people to circumvent their rights and their adherence to the resistance in all its forms, calling for wide participation in the confrontations ignited by the revolutionary youth at points of contact against the Zionist occupation soldiers.

The original Humanize Palestine website stated that Hammad, an American teen from New Orleans, was shot dead by Israel in West Bank clashes. No mention of the fact that he was a member of Hamas. He is portrayed as a victim.

This was a fund raising scheme utilizing cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, to underwrite its terrorism (“resistance”). Note that the solicitation is in English. This would indicate that the fund raising scheme not only targeted Arabic speaking countries but English speaking western countries as well, such as the U.S.

The original Humanize Palestine website memorialized Hamas and al-Qassam Brigades terror operatives, Orwa Abd al-Wahhab Hammad was one example. In their own words, they honored the deceased terror operatives as martyrs by bringing them back to life through their pictures, stories, art, and poetry.
Now the victims of these terror operatives have been honored. The U.S. Department of Justice has seized al-Qassam Brigades assets, funds and websites, used to finance their terror campaigns. The monies will be directed to the United States Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism Fund.
