Palestinian man killed in IDF raid on West Bank refugee camp

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian man who threw an explosive device at them during a raid on a West Bank refugee camp.
The man was shot in the chest early Wednesday morning in the al-Amari refugee camp near Ramallah. The soldiers were in the camp to arrest a wanted Hamas operative, according to the IDF spokesman.
Some 50 Palestinians surrounded and attacked the soldiers, the spokesman said.
Protesters “showered the invading forces with stones, and soldiers responded with live ammunition, injuring a number of other Palestinians,” an eyewitness told the Palestinian Maan news agency.
The dead man, identified as Issa Khaled al-Qatri, 22, was scheduled to be married next week, according to Maan.

RAMALLAH, West Bank – Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian on Wednesday during a raid on a West Bank refugee camp, Palestinian medics and the Israeli military said. The soldiers, seeking to detain a Hamas militant, were confronted by around 50 Palestinians who hurled stones, petrol bombs and burning tires at them, an Israeli military spokeswoman said.
Israel and Hamas, the Islamist militant group which dominates Gaza, fought a seven-week war in July and August. The medics named the dead man as 22-year-old Issa al Qitri, and said he had been shot in the heart in al-Amari camp near the city of Ramallah. The Israeli military spokeswoman said he was shot while trying to throw an explosive device at the soldiers. Palestinians want the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem for a future state. Peace talks with Israel, which captured those territories in the 1967 Middle East war, broke down in April.

Israeli troops have killed a Palestinian man during a raid in the West Bank that was met with violent resistance, the Israeli military and a Palestinian medic said.
Ahmad Betawi, the director of Ramallah Hospital, said 22-year-old Essa Qatri was shot in the chest during an attempted arrest raid on Wendesday morning. He is said to have died shortly before reaching hospital.
Israeli forces entered the al-Amari refugee camp near Ramallah in the early morning to arrest a Hamas operative, the military said, adding that they encountered dozens of Palestinian protesters who burnt tires and threw stones at the troops.
Witnesses in the camp gave a similar account of the incident.
“A main instigator attempted to hurl an explosive device at the force who opened fire in response,” the military said, without elaborating on the nature of the device.
It said forces arrested the wanted operative, who was found with weapons.

A Palestinian has been killed during an Israeli raid on a refugee camp near the West Bank city of Ramallah.
Palestinian medics said Issa Qatari, 22, was shot in the chest and died shortly before reaching hospital.
The Israeli military said its forces had clashed with dozens of protesters after entering the al-Amari camp on Wednesday to arrest a Hamas operative.
“A main instigator attempted to hurl an explosive device” at the troops, who opened fire in response, it added.
Witnesses in the camp gave a similar account of the incident.
Protesters “showered the invading forces with stones, and soldiers responded with live ammunition, injuring a number of other Palestinians”, one told the Maan news agency.
The Israeli military said the Hamas operative was arrested in the raid.

وذكرت وكالة “معا” الإخبارية الفلسطينية أن الشاب يُدعى عيسى القطري (22 عاما)، وأضافت أن الجيش الإسرائيلي كان يحاول إعتقال ناشط حماس علاء جلايطة.
وقال الجيش أن المحتجين الفلسطينيين قاموا بمهاجمة قوات الأمن بزجاجات حارقة وإطارات مشتعلة. وأن القطري قام بإلقاء عبوة ناسفة على الجنود، الذين ردوا بإطلاق ذخيرة حية، مما أدى إلى مقتله.
وتم إعتقال 6 أشخاص في الضفة الغربية خلال عمليات ليليلة قام بها الجيش الإسرائيلي.
ويأتي مقتل القطري في أعقاب سلسلة من الإضطرابات وحوادث العنف في القدس في أعقاب وفاة الفتى محمد عبد المجيد سنقرط (16 عاما)، من القدس الشرقية، والذي أطلقت القوات الإسرائيلية النار عليه خلال مواجهات في العاصمة في وقت سابق من هذا الأسبوع.
وإندلعت مواجهات بوم الثلاثاء أيضاً بعد وفاة أسير فلسطيني في سجن إسرائيلي. وقال مسؤولون إسرائيليون أن الأسير أقدم على شنق نفسه، ولكن الفلطسنيين رفضوا هذه الرواية ودعوا إلى إضراب عن الطعام يوم الأربعاء.

استشهد فجر اليوم الأربعاء الشاب عيسى القطري ( 23 عاما) من مخيم الأمعري بمدينة رام الله وسط الضفة الغربية المحتلة، برصاص جنود الاحتلال خلال حملة اعتقالات شنها الجيش الصهيوني في المخيم.
وأفادت مصادر طبية، أن قوات الاحتلال اقتحمت المخيم فجرا وداهمت عدة منازل واعتقلت الشاب علاء جلايطة قبل اندلاع مواجهات أمطرت خلالها قوات الاحتلال الشبان بالرصاص الحي ما أسفر عن إصابة الشاب عيسى القطري برصاصة في الصدر نقل إثرها إلى المجمع الطبي في رام الله حيث اعلن عن استشهاده فجر اليوم.
وبينت المصادر أن جثمان الشهيد سيشيع بعد ظهر اليوم الى مثواه الأخير في مقبرة البيرة، كما ويسود مخيم الأمعري حالة من التوتر والغضب بعد استشهاد الشاب القطري.
وزعم الجيش الصهيوني أن الشاب حاول إلقاء عبوة متفجرة على الجنود فأطلقوا عليه النار، في حين ألمحت وسائل إعلام صهيونية أن الشاب قتل برصاص قناصة, وقالت إن “ظروف إطلاق النار لا زالت قيد التحقيق”.

The Israeli military DID NOT attack the al-Ama’ari refugee camp. The IDF was in the refugee camp to arrest a wanted Hamas operative, Alaa Jalaita. The Israeli solders WERE ATTACKED with stones, burning tires and Molotov cocktails when they attempted to arrest Jalaita. Qatry was killed when he attacked the soldiers with an IED.
A material fact missing from the original Humanize Palestine narrative is that Issa Qatry’s martyred cousin, Muhammed Qatry, like Issa, was a Fatah operative, also killed in a violent clash with Israeli soldiers.
CREATING FALSE NARRATIVES WITH PHOTOGRAPHS
